Music has written my biography.
First the sumpathy and the conflict
of men and armies.
then the concerto, the single man,
the dreamed of hero, contending
armies and a sea of troubles.

Then the opera and chamber music
whispering silent griefs and
impossible conflicts in the soul
and bursting out in some improbable
story as the glorious soprano voice
rises higher and higher into her
last and glorious death.

And then the Mass, making the
final and public announcement
of man's mortality and it may be
that it has made man's mortality
forever immortal.
